Professional Development Opportunities

teacher_walkway_2If you are a K-12 educational professional seeking a professional development experience like no other, you will want to join the annual Educator Academy in the Amazon Rainforest.

This cross-curricular program uses ACTS as one of its primary study sites and is designed to engage educators in hands-on investigations, citizen science research projects, and inquiry-based learning activities designed to deepen understanding of the rainforest ecosystem and its global importance. In addition, participants explore how rainforest concepts relate to 21st century instructional models with direct applications to classroom instruction.

Facilitated by a team of university methods professors, visiting researchers, and natural history experts, the Educator Academy in the Amazon Rainforest will rekindle your sense of wonder; reinvigorate your passion for inquiry education; and redefine the words professional development.

The Educator Academy is open to K-12 educators, education professors, and informal environmental educators. For more information on the Educator Academy in the Amazon Rainforest, contact Christa Dillabaugh, Education Director, at or 1-800-431-2624.
